Tamang Randomness Treks presents an exciting adventure ‘Annapurna Semi Circuit & Tilicho Lake Trekking’ around high and scenic Manang Valley. Located on the northern sides of the massif Annapurna Himalaya mountain range with towering Chulu peaks that surrounds the beautiful valley.

A wonderful combination following the famous and popular trail of Annapurna Circuit to Jomsom town around Mustang district. As well as exploring the hidden corners of the picturesque site of Tilicho Lake, regarded as one of the holy lakes. Great combination covering the best scenic areas of high Manang Valley, which only a few groups of trekkers seldom visit. This makes the adventure more interesting and impressive for trekking amidst giant peaks of the Annapurna Himalayas with the Chulu group of peaks.

The adventure begins in a lovely hill village at Jagat, after an interesting drive from Kathmandu. Where walk follows through several nice mountain villages to enter high Manang Valley, enriched with ancient cultures and stunning views. Walking on higher terrain from the dense forest of rhododendron, oaks, and pine trees to windswept dry terrain around Manang areas. Enjoy immersing within the breathtaking scenery of snow peaks that surrounds the Manang villages in the harmony of local immense cultures.

After a pleasant time at Manang main village, our route diverts heading towards far southern pockets of Manang high valley. Reaching Tilicho Lake within amazing surroundings of towering mountains of Nilgiris, Gangapurna Himal, and Tilicho peak. Tilicho Lake is one of the highest glacial lakes around Nepal and probably in the whole Himalayas range. Where trekkers get captivated overlooking its awesome scenery of dramatic landscapes and snow peaks.

Having an enjoyable moment around beautiful areas of Tilicho Lake, the walk leads back to the main route of Annapurna Circuit. Following the trail to Phedi and High Camp of Thorang-La pass at the end of Manang valley. A steep undulating climb leads to the top of Thorang-La Pass the highest spot of the adventure. From the pass enjoy a mind-blowing panorama of high snow mountains that surrounds the Thorang-La pass.

Long descent towards Mustang district at the holy site of Muktinath, a place with a Hindu temple of Lord Vishnu. Muktinath a sacred site for pilgrimage for both Hindu and Buddhist followers, is an interesting place to visit. From  Muktinath, our adventurous walk slowly comes to an end heading down to Kaligandaki River Valley at Jomsom. The headquarters and administrative town of Mustang district, staying at Jomsom, next morning a short scenic flight to beautiful Pokhara. At Pokhara, our wonderful adventure Annapurna Semi Circuit & Tilicho Lake Trekking concludes before heading back to Kathmandu.

Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

    On first arrival at Kathmandu and Nepal international airport, our staff and guide receives you with traditional welcome. A short drive to your hotel, situated on the main part of the city, and then check into your rooms. After getting refresh join with other members of the group for trek briefing, our Tamang Randomness Treks guide. Will provide necessary information regarding the trek, culture with do’s and don’ts making your holiday in Nepal enjoyable. Evening a group dinner in a nice Nepalese restaurants with folk cultural programs, an introduction to Nepalese meals and culture.

  • Day 02: Drive to Jagat village 1,360 m via Besisar-07 hrs.

    An early morning start for overland journey to the starting point of trekking, as drive leads beyond Kathmandu valley. Heading towards low warm farm area at Lamjung district at Besisar a large town, as drive continues past Syange village. Where drive climbs on winding dirt road to Jagat village for overnight in the comfort of a nice simple lodge.

    Altitude: 1,360 m
  • Day 03: Trek to Dharapani village 1, 820 m - 06 hrs.

    Start the first day walk, as morning trail leads above Masrsyangdi River reaching Chamje village, and then crossing the river. Walk follows on nice gradual trail with short climb and then down to Tal Besi village. From here entering Manang district on leaving Lamjung areas at Tal for possible lunch stop. Afternoon an enjoyable trek with few short steep and down to Dharapani village for overnight in a nice lodge. From here onwards beginning of Buddhism strong culture all the way to Manang village and Mustang areas.

  • Day 04: Trek to Chame 2,710 m -05 hrs.

    Morning from Dharapani, a pleasant uphill walk into lovely forest of pines and rhododendron reaching Bagarchap and Danque villages. From here a steep climb to a large village of Timang for lunch stop. From here enjoy grand views of Manaslu Himal range with Lamjung Himal and Annapurna peaks. Afternoon few hours of gentle walk to Kodo village and then short climb towards Chame for overnight halt. Chame a headquarter town of Manang district with many good lodges, located on a river gorge.

  • Day 05: Trek to Pisang 3,115 m - 05 hrs.

    After Chame, morning walk leads to higher ground following the Masrsyangdi River through dense pine and rhododendron forest. As walk leads to Bhratang village, and towards a bridge to cross, and then climb to a high ridge. A small settlement called Dukare Pokhari for lunch stop facing views Pisang Peak, and village down below. Afternoon walk down to a flat area reaching Pisang village for overnight stop in a nice small lodge.

  • Day 06: Trek to Manang 3,540 m- 04 hrs.

    Morning facing views of Annapurna-II with Chulu’s and Pisang peaks, start the day following a high trail through cool forest. Then on top of a high hill offers magnificent views of scenic Manang Valley with an array of snow peaks that surround the beautiful valley of Manang. From the top down to Hongde village with a small airstrip, and the following the trail to Braga Village. Stopping here for short tour of old Braga Monastery, the top of monastery offers superb panorama of Annapurna Himalayas. Includes Chulu’s and Pisang peak, after an interesting visit of the monastery a short walk to main Manang village. At Manang village with many good lodges and guest houses with excellent food menu to enjoy the overnight halt for two days.

  • Day 07: Rest day in Manang for acclimatization and local excursion.

    After continues walk, enjoy the rest day in Manang at perfect altitude for acclimatization. On rest day take a hike to Manang view point which is across the Masrsyangdi River with an hour climb. Facing close views of Gangapurna Himal and its Ice fall with small Manang glacial Lake. Afternoon at leisure to explore the interesting village of Manang and marvel the views of snow  peaks that surrounds Manang valley.

  • Day 08: Trek to Khangsar 3,734m - 05 hrs.

    From Manang villages, our route diverts heading south to Tilicho Lake. Leaving the main trail of Annapurna Circuit, walk follows to windswept country reaching an isolated village at Khangsar for overnight stop. Khangsar a small settlement facing excellent scenery of surrounding landscapes.

  • Day 09: Trek to Tilicho Base Camp 4,150 m / 13, 615 feet - 05 hours.

    After Khangsar village, morning walk and then on steep climb. As walk proceeds on narrow path of scree and rocks over dusty trail. Facing views of surrounding snow peaks. Walk down and up around windswept dry terrain then reaching Tilicho Base Camp for lunch and overnight stop, close to Tilicho Lake.

    Altitude: 4,150 m
  • Day 10: Trek to Tilicho Lake 4,920 m / 16,141 ft. back to Shri-Kharka 4,000 m -06 hrs.

    Start the day hike to beautiful Tilicho Lake, morning walk a short distance taking few hours to turquoise Tilicho Lake. On reaching the lake, enjoy magnificent surrounding scenery of peaks surrounds the beautiful lake. Tilicho Lake regarded as a holy spot for Hindu’s the area of Tilicho is mentioned in holy Hindu religion, known as Purana. After an wonderful time at Tilicho Lake back to base camp and continue walk further to Shri Kharka for last overnight around Tilicho Lake.

  • Day 11: Trek back to Khangsar - 05 hrs.

    Morning walk back to Khangsar village, on leaving last of Tilicho Lake areas, as walk leads on few steep up with more down to Khangsar for lunch and overnight stop, before heading joining back on the main trail.

  • Day 12: Trek to Yak Kharka 4, 110 m - 04 hrs.

    After an adventure to Tilicho Lake, morning a short walk of few hours to Yak Kharka. As walk joins on the main Annapurna Circuit trail, walk on gentle high altitude trail facing views of Gangapurna Himal, Tilicho Peak with Chulu West. Slowly the day walk ends reaching a small settlement at Yak Kharka for lunch and overnight stop.

  • Day 13: Trek to High Camp 4,900 m -04 hrs.

    Another short day, but leads to slow walk due to rise in altitude, from Yak Kharka short walk to Ledar. A small place with few lodges, as walk continues down to Jarsing River and then climb to a high ridge. From here on easy gradual path to Thorang Phedi, located on the Manang Valley rim, stopping here for short rest. Continue walk with steep climb for an hour to Thorang High Camp for lunch and overnight stop.

    Altitude: 4,900 m
  • Day 14: Trek to Muktinath 3, 800 m crossing high Thorang la pass 5,416 m /17,700 feet - 06 hrs.

    Start the day early morning, having good breakfast for a long climb and downhill. The walk follows to steep winding up, then on top of Thorang-La pass marked with hundreds of Buddhist prayer flags. Enjoy the grand panorama of snow mountain range that surrounds the highest spot of the trek. A long descent to the base of Thorang-La around Mustang area. From the bottom a gradual walk to Muktinath temple and the village of Rani-Pawa for overnight halt. Muktinath regarded as one of the sacred temple for all Hindu and some Buddhist followers. From the overnight lodge offers grand views of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiris Himal.

  • Day 15: Trek to Jomsom 2,715 m - 04 hrs.

    Enjoy the last day trek of the adventure heading downhill to Kaligandaki River flat windswept valley to Jomsom. As our walk ends at Jomsom town, the headquarters of Mustang district and the hub of native Thakali people. The main tribes of Lower Mustang and Kaligandaki Valley, interwoven to Buddhism religion. At Jomsom in the comfort of a nice standard lodge for overnight halt.

    Altitude: 2,715 m
  • Day 16: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara 860 m and transfer to hotel.

    An early morning breakfast and the walk to Jomsom air terminal for scenic sweeping flight to Pokhara. Overlooking super panorama of Annapurna’s and Dhaulagiri Himalaya rang, as plane land at Pokhara. Transfer to a lovely hotels by the Phewa Lake side, rest of the day at leisure for individual activities.

    Altitude: 860 m
  • Day 17: Drive or fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

    Morning depart from the hotel in Pokhara for drive to Kathmandu, reaching by late afternoon and back to your hotel. Rest of the afternoon free at leisure for individual activities and shopping souvenirs.

  • Day 18: Depart for international departure.

    Last day in Kathmandu and Nepal, as time for your international flight our staff and guide transfer you to the airport. For your international flight homeward bound, after a great wonderful adventure and exciting experience on Annapurna Semi Circuit & Tilicho Lake Trekking.

    From Kathmandu onwards staying in local mountain lodges and guest house. Where most good lodges have rooms with common or attached bathe and toilets running hot and cold water for showers. A neat and clean rooms, however carrying your sleeping bags adds extra comfort. The food are served in a nice large dining rooms with a fire place to keep the dining warm and cozy. Nearly all lodges on treks serves comprehensive food menu to choose from Continental, Chinese, Indian, Nepalese, Tibetan. As well some places serves Korean, Japanese and Mexican food also, some restaurants with fresh bakery product also. But from Manang village to Tilicho Lake, for few days’ accommodation is simple with basic lodge having limited food menu to enjoy. At Muktinath and Jomsom staying in standard good lodge with excellent food menu.
