Topographically, Nepal is a best and rich place for varieties of flora and fauna. Nepal is also known as bird watcher’s paradise because bird watching tour in Nepal is very famous. By combining inside and outside Kathmandu valley, there are more than 890 species of birds have been spotted in Nepal. The best place to explore birds and bird’s habitat inside valley are Godwari, Phulchowki, Nagarjun and Taudaha. More than 500 species of birds can be spotted in this area. Outside the Kathmandu valley there are famous national park to encounter wide variety of birds i.e. Chitwan National Park and Bardia National Park.

The other famous place is Koshi Tappu wildlife reserve where we can spot both migratory and resident birds. The bird species includes Lophophorus, Dusky, Eagle-owl, fish eagles, Bengal foricans, Barn owls, Honeyguides, Woodpeckers, Hawks, Cranes, Sparrows, Crakes, Kingfishers and wide variety of birds are found in Nepal.

Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu.

Day 2: Full day Bird watching.

Day 3: Fly (25 minutes) or drive (5 hours) to Chitwan National Park.

Day 4: Bird watching at Chitwan National Park

Day 5: Drive to Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve.

Day 6: Full day enjoy birding at Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve.

Day 7: Drive or fly to Kathmandu.

Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu.

    Our company staff will catch you at International airport and escorts you to reach at your booked hotel by a private vehicle. After check in you can take rest and get refreshed. In the evening you will be taken to an authentic Nepali restaurant for welcome dinner with cultural dance program offered by a company. Overnight at hotel.

  • Day 2: Full day Bird watching.

    After breakfast, you will drive to Godawari Botanical Park near to Kathmandu which is a home to 100 species of birds. The birds you can see at the park are Himalayan Cutia, Rusty-fronted Barwing, Chestnut-headed Tesia, Bay and Darjeeling Woodpeckers, Blue-naped Pitta and Blue-bearded Bee-eater etc. You will spend your day at Godawari by doing birding. In the late afternoon you will return back to your hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

  • Day 3: Fly (25 minutes) or drive (5 hours) to Chitwan National Park.

    Either way you can reach to Chitwan by flight or by drive, the choice is yours. You will be transfer at pre-booked hotel by our representative upon your arrival at Chitwan. After check in you can take rest and get refreshed. In the evening you can go for a short birding tour at bank of Rapti River, also you can enjoy the stunning sunset view. Overnight at hotel.

  • Day 4: Bird watching at Chitwan National Park

    Today, you can enjoy whole day by doing a bird watching. You can take elephant safari or jeep safari to observe some varieties of birds inside Chitwan National Park. Chitwan Nationl Park is home to more than 543 species of birds. The list of the birds found in park are Bengal florican, fly catcher, Bee-eaters, Stork-billed Kingfishers, Swamp francolin, Grey-crowned Prinia, bulbuls, mynahs, jungle fowl, egrets, and many more. Overnight at hotel.

  • Day 5: Drive to Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve.

    After breakfast, we will do a scenic drive to reach Koshi Tappu Reserve from Chitwan. At Koshi Tappu you will have a short rest at hotel for your refreshment. In the evening you will go short outing for bird watching. There are over 400 species of birds recorded so far in this region. Ospreys, Peregrine Falcon, Storks, Black Ibis, Honey Kites, and Black Headed Orioles etc to name few that you will get chance to encounter throughout the day. Overnight at hotel.

  • Day 6: Full day enjoy birding at Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve.

    Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve consists an area of 175 km2  and it is a protected area located in the Terai of eastern Nepal. You can enjoy jungle activities and bird watching in this protected area. After birding you will back to hotel for lunch and take some rest. Again, in the evening you will go jungle walk and enjoy the bird watching. Overnight at hotel.

  • Day 7: Drive or fly to Kathmandu.

    After breakfast drive (10 hours) or fly (35 minutes) back to Kathmandu. If you came by flight then you can enjoy half day Kathmandu city sightseeing tour. You will explore cultural and world heritage sites including Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath stupa, and Durbar Square. Overnight at hotel.

  • Day 8: Final Departure

    Our company representative will leave you at Tribhuwan International Airport before 3 hours to catch your schedule flight for your home country or onward destination. Thanks for visiting Nepal.

    The best season for bird tour in Nepal is usually March-April and October-November. Chitwan wildlife tour can be done in February, June, April, May and December as well.
  • 3) What is the weather and temperature like?

    It depends upon season. During winter (November to February), it is colder at night time and relatively warmer during the day time. The temperature ranging from around 4 degree at night to 23 degree at day time. The weather stay perfect as the temperature averages 25 degree during the day time in March-May. The temperature gets cooler from September to December and allows for a great time to travel. The average temperature during this season is 22 degree.
  • 4) What sort of accommodation can I expect in this tour?

    For the entire tour, we provide 2-3 star level hotel accommodation. The hotel offer the facilities of dining room, a bar, internet access, hot shower, attached bathrooms, and many more. You have to pay additional charge if you want to upgrade the accommodation to a five star hotel.
