From 2003 onwards, in the land of indigenous tribes, the Khampa’s enriched with intriguing cultures of age-old Buddhism heritage. Truly an amazing country to visit and explore its windblown villages of Phu and Nar with its ancient monasteries. The settlement of Nar and Phu is a land of scenic and cultural interest, where a walk leads you from the main trail. Heading towards off the beaten tracks away from the popular Annapurna Circuit route for a week long. On visiting the exciting areas of Nar and Phu and then back following the main path to Manang village.
The land of Nar-Phu is a raw and wild country, making a perfect habitation for mountain wildlife, like blue sheep. Including Himalayan Thar and a herd of mountain goats, often seen on this marvelous journey around Nar and Phu terrain. An exciting overland journey from Kathmandu takes you to cooler hills covered in green dense forest reaching Manang district. As the walk follows on main Annapurna Circuit to Kodo village, from here our route diverts from the popular trail. Heading towards hidden Shangri-La to Nar-Phu high valley, following into a river gorge, and then reaching a wide-open country.
On reaching our main destinations at Phu villages, with ample time to explore its immense and impressive cultures. Then walk leads to Nar another main village of the area, quite similar to Phu but much smaller and more interesting. After completing the adventure around Nar-Phu crossing the high pass of Kang-La, and then back on the trail of Annapurna Circuit. The adventure follows through the lovely large main village at Manang, surrounded by towering
peaks of Chulu’s and Annapurna Himalayas.
After Manang village on the trail to cross Thorang-La passes the highest point of the adventure. Rewards with a spectacular panorama of a snow mountain range that surrounds the high pass of Thorang-La. From the pass a long descent to a holy site of Muktinath temple, located within the picturesque Mustang area. At Muktinath explore the sacred temples and holy monuments, an important pilgrimage place for Hindu and Buddhist religions. From Muktinath down to Kaligandaki River to Jomsom, where our adventurous treks then completes at the big town of Jomsom. Day 03: Trek to Dharapani village 1, 820 m – 06 hrs.
Day 04: Trek to Kodo 2,630 m near Chame town 2,710 m -05 hrs.

Day 15: Trek to High Camp 4,900 m -04 hrs.
Day 16: Trek to Muktinath 3, 800 m crossing high Thorang la pass 5,416 m /17,700 feet – 06 hrs.
Day 17: Trek to Jomsom 2,715 m – 04 hrs.
Day 18: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara 860 m and transfer to hotel.
Day 19: Drive or fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 20: Depart for international departure
On first arrival at Kathmandu and Nepal international airport, our staff and guide receives you with traditional welcome. A short drive to your hotel, situated on the main part of the city, and then check into your rooms. After getting refresh join with other members of the group for trek briefing, our Tamang Randomness Treks guide. Will provide necessary information regarding the trek, culture with do’s and don’ts making your holiday in Nepal enjoyable. Evening a group dinner in a nice Nepalese restaurants with folk cultural programs, an introduction to Nepalese meals and culture.
An early morning start for overland journey to the starting point of trekking, as drive leads beyond Kathmandu valley. Heading towards low warm farm area at Lamjung district at Besisar a large town, as drive continues past Syange village. Where drive climbs on winding dirt road to Jagat village for overnight in the comfort of a nice simple lodge.
Start the first day walk, as morning trail leads above Masrsyangdi River reaching Chamje village, and then crossing the river. Walk follows on nice gradual trail with short climb and then down to Tal Besi village. From here entering Manang district on leaving Lamjung areas at Tal for possible lunch stop. Afternoon an enjoyable trek with few short steep and down to Dharapani village for overnight in a nice lodge. From here onwards beginning of Buddhism strong culture on route Manang village and Mustang areas.
Morning from Dharapani, a gradual climb into cool forest of pines and rhododendron reaching Bagarchap and Danque villages. From here a steep climb to a large village of Timang for lunch stop. From here enjoy grand views of Manaslu Himal range with Lamjung Himal and Annapurna peaks. Afternoon few hours of gentle walk to Kodo village for overnight stop, located close to Chame, the headquarter town of Manang district.
From Kodo village our route diverts towards north, on leaving the main trail of Annapurna circuit for a week. After Kodo village walk leads to wild mountainous terrains where blue sheep and snow leopard habitats. Often seen on this treks, as walk follows into a narrow gorge covered in pines, rhododendron trees. After hours of good walk reaching Dharmasala a small farm village for refreshing stops. From here an hour trek to Meta for overnight halt, a quaint little farm village.
Morning from Meta, a short day walk of an hour walk reaching Junam, one of the few permanent settlements. As trail follows to Chako, an early refugee settlement of Tibetan Khamba people, migrated to Nepal from Tibet. After a short rest, few hours climb and then down to Kyang for overnight and lunch stop. Around these area, an extensive winter settlement of Phu, located on a high plateau above Phu River.
Todays, walk leads to our main highlight to Phu from Kyang, morning starts with short downhill to a river. Then following the river for a while reaching an impressive Buddhist monument a Chorten. From here wade across a small ice cold stream, and cross over a bridge built with stone slabs. As it follows to a narrow canyon and gorge towards an old gate the entrance of Phu village. On reaching Phu village transfer into a nice simple and basic lodge but with homely comfort and traditional hospitality.
Enjoy a rest and a free day in Phu for acclimatization, as well to explore the interesting village. Around Phu area visit the summer grazing settlement of Khamba people with famous Tashi Lakhang Gompa. Get blessed from the high priest Lama Karma Sonam Rinpoche, who migrated to Nepal in 1959 with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. A lovely rest day ton enjoy the ancient Tibetan culture, and scenic landscapes.
Morning from Phu village, start the walk towards exit gate of Phu, and then following downhill path to the river. Reaching at Junam Kharka or Nar Phedi for overnight halt. A lovely spot with few simple huts serving as tea-house and lodges.
Another short day walk, starts with downhill to old bridge into a narrow gorge. From here climb leads with views of an old Gyalbu Khumbu and Satte Gompa monasteries. History of 17 the Century, at present the place is empty in desolate condition. After few hours of walks, then entering the gate of Nar village, situated on a hill top. The entrance gate with delightful painting having a bamboo-topped Chorten. After a nice morning walk reaching Nar, a village with well- tended barley and mustard fields. Enjoy the overnight stop in a small simple lodge, afternoon explore the four ancient colorful Gompas. Where snow peaks towers above the monastery.
From Nar trek to the end of Nar and Phu valley, the trail winds up to cross streams and then entering a wide field with few simple huts. Serving as Tea-House and simple Guest House, afternoon relax and marvel the surrounding beautiful views of Chulu’s and Damodar Himal with Himlung Himal.
An early morning start, climb leads on top Kang-La Pass at 5,306 m high, the pass is not a difficult. But leads to long stretch up. In snow deep condition the climb will be quite challenging taking longer. From the top of Kang-La enjoy views of Annapurna-II, Gangapurna Himal and Tilicho Peak. After a glorious morning views and climb walk down reaching across a colorful Chorten with prayer flags. Slowly the walk ends at Ngawal, a village with cobbled streets, prayer wheels and beautiful architecture, regarded as an old religious spot. At Ngawal enjoy the comfort of a nice cozy lodge, facing views of Chulu, Pisang Peak and Annapurna Himalayas.
After a pleasant overnight stop in Ngawal village, morning walk down to Hongde to join back on the main trail of Annapurna Circuit. From here walk leads to Braga, a village with an old monastery on top of a high ridge. Having time here visit the monastery of great religious interest enriched with ancient artifacts, and relics. From the monastery super views of Annapurna Himalaya range towards south with Chulu’s in the north. Enjoying tour of the monastery short walk to main Manang village for overnight in the comfort of nice good lodges.
After a pleasant and wonderful rest at Manang village, morning a short walk of few hours to Yak Kharka. On leaving Manang village, walk on gentle high altitude trail facing views of Gangapurna Himal, Tilicho Peak with Chulu West. Slowly the day walk ends reaching a small settlement at Yak Kharka for lunch and overnight stop.
Another short day, but leads to slow walk due to rise in altitude, from Yak Kharka short walk to Ledar. A small place with few lodges, as walk continues down to Jarsing River and then climb to a high ridge. From here on easy gradual path to Thorang Phedi, located on the Manang Valley rim, stopping here for short rest. Continue walk with steep climb for an hour to Thorang High Camp for lunch and overnight stop.
Start the day early morning, having good breakfast for a long climb and downhill. The walk follows to steep winding up, then on top of Thorang-La pass marked with hundreds of Buddhist prayer flags. Enjoy the grand panorama of snow mountain range that surrounds the highest spot of the trek. A long descent to the base of Thorang-La around Mustang area. From the bottom a gradual walk to Muktinath temple and the village of Rani-Pawa for overnight halt. Muktinath regarded as one of the sacred temple for all Hindu and some Buddhist followers. From the overnight lodge offers grand views of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiris Himal.
Enjoy the last day trek of the adventure heading downhill to Kaligandaki River flat windswept valley to Jomsom. As our walk ends at Jomsom town, the headquarters of Mustang district and the hub of native Thakali people. The main tribes of Lower Mustang and Kaligandaki Valley, interwoven to Buddhism religion. At Jomsom in the comfort of a nice standard lodge for overnight halt.
An early morning breakfast and the walk to Jomsom air terminal for scenic sweeping flight to Pokhara. Overlooking super panorama of Annapurna’s and Dhaulagiri Himalaya rang, as plane land at Pokhara. Transfer to a lovely hotels by the Phewa Lake side, rest of the day at leisure for individual activities.
Morning depart from the hotel in Pokhara for drive to Kathmandu, reaching by late afternoon and back to your hotel. Rest of the afternoon free at leisure for individual activities and shopping souvenirs. (Options for flight to Kathmandu from Pokhara of half hour scenic flight)
