Poon Hill & Annapurna Base Camp Trekking with ‘Tamang Randomness Treks’ leads you to a unique blend of scenic combinations. Covering both beautiful areas of Southern Annapurna green hills and then walking in the heart of the massive Annapurna Himalaya range. Poon Hill & Annapurna Base Camp Trekking is a moderate to adventurous walk without the problem of catching altitude sickness. The trek leads with a slow gain of elevation getting acclimatized along the walks in the shade of high towering peaks.

The first part of the adventure takes you to the high hills at Ghorepani village, located amidst an enchanting rhododendron forest. In springtime, the whole place will be lively with wildflowers in seasonal bloom, especially the rhododendron of various species. From Ghorepani hike to Poon Hill View Point for breathtaking sunrise views over a 360° panorama of a snow mountain range. Includes the world’s three highest peaks Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Manaslu, and Mt. Annapurna with an array of peaks with majestic Machhapuchare Himal.

After an exciting time at Ghorepani and Poon Hill, the adventure continues heading towards our final destination to Annapurna Base Camp. Following an uphill trail within dense forest facing alluring views of a snow mountain range. As the walk leads ups and down to a large Chomrong village, populated by the main tribes of Annapurna the Gurung. An interesting settlement of Gurung people interwoven to Buddhism religion and impressive culture of age- old heritage farm life.

Leaving Chomrong the last permanent village, heading north following the Modi River into a gorge covered in thick forest. As the walk progresses leading higher with a steep climb to Machhapuchare Base Camp, the entrance to the picturesque Annapurna Sanctuary. Walk follows on a pleasant trail on reaching Annapurna Sanctuary enclosed within an amphitheater of giant peaks. Slowly ending the walk at Annapurna Base Camp on the highest point of the adventure at 4,130 m high. An amazing place to experience once in a lifetime facing astonishing views of staggering peaks that surrounds the base camp.

Having an enjoyable and exciting moment at Annapurna Base Camp, walk leads on the same scenic trail to Chomrong village. From Chomrong on a downhill to a road-head, and then taking a few hour drives to beautiful Pokhara. At Pokhara, our marvelous adventure Poon Hill & Annapurna Base Camp Trekking completes before heading to Kathmandu.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 02: Fly or drive to Pokhara 860 m and transfer to hotel -06 hrs.
Day 03: Drive to start point at Bhirethati 1,100 m and walk to Tirkhedhunga 1,425 m- 06 hours with drive and trek.
Day 04: Trek to Ghorepani village 2,885 m – 06 hrs.
Day 05: Morning hike to Poon Hill and trek to Tadapani 2,640 m – 06 hrs.
Day 06: Trek to Chomrong village 1,951 m – 06 hrs.
Day 07:  Trek to Dovan 2, 130 m via Bamboo 2,050 m – 06 hrs.
Day 08:  Trek to Machhapuchare Base Camp 3,720 m -06 hrs.
Day 09:  Trek to Annapurna Base Camp 4,130 m – 04 hrs.
Day 10:  Trek to Bamboo 2,050 m – 06 hrs.

Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

    On first arrival at Kathmandu and Nepal international airport, our staff and guide receives you with traditional welcome. A short drive to your hotel, situated on the main part of the city, and then check into your rooms. After getting refresh join with other members of the group for trek briefing, our Tamang Randomness Treks guide. Will provide necessary information regarding the trek, culture with do’s and don’ts making your holiday in Nepal enjoyable.

    Evening a group dinner in a nice Nepalese restaurants with folk cultural programs, an introduction to Nepalese meals and culture.

  • Day 02: Fly or drive to Pokhara 860 m and transfer to hotel -06 hrs.

    Morning after an early breakfast, and then depart for Pokhara towards Nepal Mid-West, an interesting overland journey off 5-6 hours. As drive follows on main Nepal busy highway through many farm villages and towns, then reaching Pokhara. The hotel in Pokhara situated close to the beautiful Phewa Lake.

  • Day 03: Drive to start point at Bhirethati 1,100 m and walk to Tirkhedhunga 1,425 m- 06 hours with drives and trek.

    Enjoy the morning views of Annapurna Himalaya peaks, having good breakfast getting ready for a short drive to Bhirethati village. Walk starts following uphill trail through farm villages then reaching Tirkhedhunga for overnight stop, a small village close to beautiful water falls.

  • Day 04: Trek to Ghorepani village 2,885 m - 06 hrs.

    The morning begins with climb to Ulleri village, after an hour more uphill reaching on top at Ulleri village. From the high ridge enjoy views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchare Himal ‘Fish Tail’. After a short rest continue walk on gradual up within lovely cool forest of rhododendron and pines trees. As trail follows to our overnight stop at Ghorepani village, a lovely village on a high ridge. The village inhabited by Poon / Magar hill tribes runs many good lodge facing views of Dhaulagiri Himalayas.

  • Day 05: Morning hike to Poon Hill and trek to Tadapani 2,640 m - 06 hrs.

    Early morning hike to Poon Hill, taking an hour climb reaching on the highest point of the trek at 3,210 m. Enjoy the glorious sunrise with world’s three tallest peaks of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Manaslu Himalayas with majestic Machhapuchare Himal.

    After an enjoyable moment down to Ghorepani for breakfast, and then heading uphill within rhododendron and pine tree forest. As walk leads down to Bhanthati village for lunch, afternoon a few hours trek to Tadapani for overnight stop.

  • Day 06: Trek to Chomrong village 1,951 m - 06 hrs.

    From Tadapani, enjoy the morning views of Annapurna peaks, as walk follows downhill to a river. As climb starts for an hour reaching a nice level path, and then to Chomrong village for overnight stop. Chomrong a large Gurung village, the gateway to Annapurna Base Camp and Sanctuary. The Gurung people are the main hill tribes of Annapurna Himalaya range, follows Buddhism religion.

  • Day 07:  Trek to Dovan 2, 130 m via Bamboo 2,050 m - 06 hrs.

    From Chomrong on the high trail, first down to a river and then climb towards Sinuwa Danda ridge. As trail leads into a dense rhododendron and pine forest with descend to Bamboo, a temporary settlement with 4-5 lodges. From here following the Modi River gorge up to Dovan for overnight halt. A place with few simple nice lodges above the raging Modi River on route to our destination.

  • Day 08:  Trek to Machhapuchare Base Camp 3,720 m -06 hrs.

    Leaving Dovan, after breakfast as route follows with short steep climb to Himalaya Hotel, close to a big Hinko Cave. A place with 2-3 lodges and tea-houses, after a short stop, walk follows down to a river bank. A climb for short while to Deurali, possible lunch stop in of few lodge restaurants. After lunch walk to the right side of the river, as climb continues with steep up to Machhapuchare Base Camp. Located on a high ridge below towering Machhapuchare Himal the Fish Tail peaks, enjoy the views of Annapurna-I and Annapurna South.

  • Day 09:  Trek to Annapurna Base Camp 4,130 m - 04 hrs.

    Today a short morning walk to our final destination to Annapurna Base Camp and the Sanctuary. Walk starts with short steep climb entering a wide valley at Annapurna Sanctuary surrounded by array of snow peaks. A pleasant walk on gradual up to Annapurna Base Camp for lunch and overnight stop. Afternoon at leisure to explore and marvel the stunning panorama of high snow peaks that surrounds the base camp.

  • Day 10:  Trek to Bamboo 2,050 m - 06 hrs.

    After an enjoyable time having great experience, walk downhill back into forest with few ups and more down to Bamboo. A small settlement for overnight halt, located above the Modi River amidst tall trees of rhododendron and bamboo stalks.

    Altitude: 2,050 m
  • Day 11:  Trek to Jhinu-Danda a place with hot spring 1, 700 m - 06 hrs.

    The last day of wonderful walk, morning leads to short climb to Sinuwa Danda having few shops and tea houses. From here down to a river with climb to Chomrong village for lunch stop. Afternoon few hour descent to Jhinu village for overnight halt, the village with natural hot spring nearby. Where one enjoy refreshing dip in a warm pool, close to the lodge of Jhinu a nice village.

    Altitude: 1, 700 m
  • Day 12:  Trek to road-head and drive to Pokhara 860 m- 04 hrs.

    Our last day of the adventure, a short walk to a road-head, from here taking a local vehicle. As drives takes you back at beautiful Pokhara for last overnight stop, after a marvelous experience on Annapurna Base Camp & Sanctuary Trekking.

  • Day 13: Drive or fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

    Morning depart from the hotel in Pokhara for drive to Kathmandu, reaching by late afternoon and back to your hotel. Rest of the afternoon free at leisure for individual activities and shopping souvenirs.
    (Options for flight to Kathmandu from Pokhara of half hour scenic flight)

  • Day 14: Depart for international departure.

    Last day in Kathmandu and Nepal, as time for your international flight our staff and guide transfer you to the airport. For your international flight homeward bound, after a great wonderful adventure to Poon Hill & Annapurna Base Camp.

    No worries, there are electricity power to charge our electronic gadgets in every lodges on route trekking. Where you have the facilities charging your electronic gadget, on paying a small fee for each items as per hour.

    Nepal and the Himalayas, 80% of the country of hills and valleys including the world’s highest peaks. Where walk leads to steep climb and downhill, as well enjoying wonderful views of snow-capped peaks. The charm of this trek is walking into beautiful cool rhododendron forest and around villages of lively and impressive cultures.
  • 04: How are the food and accommodation on treks?

    From Pokhara onwards staying in local mountain lodges and guest house. Where most good lodges have rooms with common or attached bathe and toilets running hot and cold water for showers. A neat and clean rooms, however carrying your sleeping bags adds extra comfort. The food are served in a nice large dining rooms with a fire place to keep the dining warm and cozy. But from Chomrong to Annapurna Base Camp, the lodge are simple with basic facilities with clean and nice rooms. Nearly all lodges on treks serves comprehensive food menu to choose from Continental, Chinese, Indian, Nepalese, Tibetan. As well some places serves Korean, Japanese and Mexican food also, some restaurants with fresh bakery product also.
